Cynthia Ann Crawford (born February 20th 1965) is an American model, actress and television personality. In the 80s and 90s she was one of the most popular supermodels , and a ubiquitous presence on magazine covers and runways and fashion shows. She subsequently expanded into the business world and acting. In her sophomore year of high school, she was contacted by an inquiry from a local store regarding modeling work, only to discover it was a joke by two of her peers. Crawford was offered a job by a different store the following year to model. Also, they had an event for fashion. Roger Legel (a local photographer) approached Crawford during her junior year to shoot her. The assignment included shooting with Crawford for the magazine. Her positive comments and the image convinced her to start modeling. Initially, she worked with an agency that was small, and was purchased by Elite Model Management shortly after she signed. In 1983 she entered Elite's Look of the Year contest at age 17 and won the national finals.
